Off-Facebook Activity
Good morning. This is Vanessa Collins, your Certified Digital Marketing Specialist with your Weekly Tech Tip. In the coming months, Facebook is rolling out a tool that lets people see and manage their off-Facebook activity. This will include the list of the apps and websites someone visits that use the Facebook pixel. In an article published on Facebook’s business site, they explained that when someone disconnects their off-Facebook activity, Facebook won’t use that data for targeting. This means that targeting options powered by Facebook’s business tools, like the Facebook pixel, can’t be used to reach those people with ads. This also includes Custom Audiences built from visitors to websites or apps. Facebook specifically said, “Businesses should keep this in mind when developing strategies for these kinds of campaigns in the second half of the year and beyond.”
What does this mean to us Facebook advertisers? It will change the types of ads we run but more importantly it will make us have to a better job with the experience people have when they hit our landing pages and websites the first time.
