This is Vanessa Collins, your Certified Digital Marketing Specialist with your Weekly Tech Tip. Images that you can use in your business can be one of the hardest things to find on the internet. I know, you’re thinking, “No it isn’t, Vanessa. All you have to do is Google ‘images’ and there are a ton of images out there.” Let me repeat, “Images that you can use in your business can be one of the hardest things to find on the internet.” The majority of the images that appear in search results are copywritten and even many places that offer “royalty free” images do not allow you to use them for commercial purposes. That mean that you can’t use them on your landing page to promote your latest offer or as a book cover image for a book that you plan to make money from. That is why my “go to” place for images in Pixabay.com.

Pixabay.com offers over 1.6 million royalty free stock photos and videos shared by their community. Pixabay is a vibrant community of creatives, sharing copyright free images and videos. All contents are released under the Pixabay License, which makes them safe to use without asking for permission or giving credit to the artist – even for commercial purposes.

I have found Pixabay does have its limitations. They are great for background images and icons. However, there are not a lot of images of women of color. You can go to sites like CreateHerStock.com but those images are for personal use and you cannot use those images for commercial purposes. You can also go to sites like Shuttlestock but you will pay $50-$100 for images you can use commercially.

So, they next time you need an image, check out Pixabay.com.
